I’ve been an artist my entire life. When I was in high school, I was interested in pursuing a degree in fashion. I went to visit England the summer between my junior and senior year to visit family, and my Grandma suggested I take a fashion course to make sure it’s what I really wanted to do, so I took ‘The First Steps to Fashion’ at Central Saint Martins in London. On the first day, they gave us each a stack of newspapers and told us to make a portrait. I was hooked! I moved onto magazines after that because I wanted more color, and since then the magazines have evolved into my paints - painting with paper! It is also my commentary on climate change - I only use recycled magazines. I got my BFA from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008.
